China Missed High-Income by $145

Each July the World Bank sorts countries by last year’s gross national income per person. This year, Our World in Data notes, China came within $145 of the high-income group. On research spending and clean energy it already looks like the club. On output per hour, it does not. The cutoff is a line. The economy is not.
